• The book teaches you to make a card. This notebook hands you thirty of them, already made, and it is not a summary: it does not contain one line of teaching.
• It settles the only real obstacle on the memory side. With no stock of cards you have nothing to draw without a model, and building a stock takes weeks. Whoever opens this notebook has thirty of them on day one.
• Thirty ordinary things you have at home, one per double page, in three blocks of ten. Ten that sit in one piece: the cup, the bowl, the pot, the saucepan, the kettle. Ten that sit on several points: the chair, the key, the folded glasses, the open scissors, the umbrella leaning against the wall. Ten hollow, soft or living: the shoe, the mitt, the watering can, the plant, the cat lying down, the perched bird, someone reading.
• On the left, the filled-in card: the two spans in units, what touches and how many contacts, the one marker, and the line of the hollow when the object has one. On the right, your sheet, with the two spans already drawn at the edges and nothing else. Underneath, three check boxes that point back to the lesson number in the book.
• At the end, the thirty-line tracking sheet, then ten blank lines: the first ten cards you will make yourself, on the things in your own life.
• The book is read. The notebook is filled in. Take the notebook away and the book is still complete; take the book away and the notebook is still usable by someone who has the method.
